How can I see my Heart Rate Zones?

Monitor the intensity of your paddling session by viewing your heart rate zones - ideal for training and improving your fitness. You'll need to use an Apple Watch or a heart rate monitor compatible with iPhone to be able to track your heart rate and zones while you're using Paddle Logger.

Open your Session Details page, then expand the Health section to view your average heart rate, maximum heart rate and time in each zone.

  • It says I need to grant extra permissions

If you're unable to view your heart rate zones, it's usually because you need to grant some extra Apple Health permissions that we haven't already asked for. Check the following steps:

  1. Head to your Account tab and tap on Paddle Settings
  2. Tap Open Permissions
  3. Ensure all permissions have been granted, if they haven't please tap any unchecked permissions to grant them

What are heart rate zones?

Heart rate zones are the five intensity levels of exercise. Your heart rate zones are automatically calculated based on a percentage of your maximum heart rate, based on the data that Apple Health has collected. By monitoring your heart rate zones whilst paddling, you can improve your fitness and make your workouts more efficient. Zone 1 Easy - warm up
Zone 2 Light effort - conversational pace
Zone 3 Moderate effort - out of breath but can sustain for long periods of time
Zone 4 Hard effort - race pace
Zone 5 Maximum effort - can't sustain for long, sprint pace
