What's the deal with Paddle Logger and my privacy?

Does Paddle Logger have access to my personal data?

The short answer is no, Paddle Logger does not have access to any of your personal data. All your Health data is stored locally on your device and backed up on Apple’s cloud servers. The only time that we would see any personal data at all is when you contact our support team, in which case we would see your name and email address. You can ask for these details to be removed from our support system once your issue has been resolved, and we would not add your contact details to mailing lists or otherwise without your express permission in line with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

But why does Paddle Logger ask me to enable Health Tracking?

Paddle Logger needs Health permissions enabled in order to work as it tracks your heart rate and calories. The absolute minimum permission that it needs to work is the ability to write to Workout Routes and Workouts, but please note that if you enable only these permissions, then it will not track your heart rate and calories. While you can give Paddle Logger permission to read data, this is not necessary for the app to work, and we would still not have any access to your data.

How about PaddleLIVE?

PaddleLIVE is a safety feature available with a Paddle Logger Subscription, for it to function we need to store your emergency contact's phone number and your paddle locations on our server. We only store this for PaddleLIVE sessions and we delete completed sessions from our servers after a short time.

You can read more about PaddleLIVE here.

You can read our full privacy policy here, and if you have any specific concerns you can shoot us a message from within the app via the Help & Support section and we'll be happy to answer your questions.
