FAQs
What is my Paddler Score? What does my score mean?
A higher score will likely indicate a regular paddler, who has a high efficiency and can paddle multiple craft safely and responsibly. While a lower score may indicate inexperience or a paddler new to the sport. The score is designed to be inclusive, meaning not always the quickest paddler will have the higher score.
How is my Paddler Score calculated? How can I improve my score?
Your score is made up of a number of factors. You may notice your score increasing after improving some of the following:
- Consistent participation over a period.
- Increasing average session length.
- Average speed.
- Average pace.
- Competency across multiple craft.
- Use of PaddleLIVE®.
Does paddling faster give me more points?
Sort of.
Improving your performance will increase your score, however, this does not just mean faster is better. Consistent paddling is rewarded, at Paddle Logger we want to encourage increased participation.
More paddlers taking to the water safely more often, Paddler Score rewards this.
Can my score ever go down?
Yes - there is a built in decay. This is designed to encourage regular paddling and the forming of habits to get on the water more!
Why is my score lower than my friend's even though I paddle more often?
Many factors influence Paddler Score. This means that there are multiple ways to accumulate a higher score.
Is everyone's score calculated the same way?
Yes.
Does my score mean I'm ranked against other paddlers?
The metric is calculated the same for everyone, therefore scores should be fairly comparable within your community. While we may not directly rank you against other paddlers, you can see what percentile of paddlers your score puts you.
Do imported sessions count towards my score, or only sessions tracked with Paddle Logger?
All sessions count, however it's important to remember that sessions imported into your logbook may contribute less because they may not include all the data a Paddle Logger session would have, like PaddleLIVE® usage for example.
How often is the score updated? Should I expect to see it improve with every session? Or just once a week/month/year?
Your score will be updated after every session. however one extra session may not dramatically change anything, the idea is to see progression over time.
What happens if I get a new iPhone or Apple Watch? Will my score carry over to the new device?
The score is calculated from your session history. If the same sessions are on the new device (synced via iCloud), your score will carry over.
