Why am I seeing two free subscriptions?

If you have accepted a free trial or promotion, in the email receipt that you receive from Apple it will may show what appears to be two free subscriptions, a 'trial' and then an 'offer' such as the below:

In the case above, the user accepted and activated the free six-month subscription starting on 22 April 2021, which will expire on 22 October 2021 at which point their subscription will renew and they will be charged. 

This is a slight quirk in Apple's system and how they apply the free subscription to your Apple account. We know it's confusing, but when checking your Active subscriptions on your phone via Settings (tap your name at the top, then 'Subscriptions') the correct expiry date should be displayed.
