How To Set Up PaddleLIVE
How to enable PaddleLIVE
Tap on the main paddle screen, and then 'PaddleLIVE Setup'. From here you'll need to fill in the required fields, add your emergency contact/s and set your minimum session duration and extension preferences. For additional safety, we recommend having at least two emergency contacts.
How to start a trip with PaddleLIVE
Tap on the main paddling screen and make sure that 'Notify contacts as soon as session starts' is on. Then, choose a period of time that you think you will be on the water for, then go paddling and start tracking as normal. You can easily extend the set time period during your trip on the main recording screen.
What happens while you're paddling
If you are still on the water beyond your expected end time, PaddleLIVE will send you notifications to check you are OK. If you are, simply press 'I'm OK' and with one tap extend your expected journey time.
If you don’t respond, or choose to fire a digital flare, a text alert is sent to your chosen contacts. This message will ask them to first check in with you and then look at the linked webpage which shows a map of where you have been paddling, your current location and coordinates, as well as data about your current battery life.
Once they have assessed the situation it is then their responsibility to, only if required, contact the relevant authorities to initiate an efficient rescue.
How to share your trip
If you need to share your trip at any point during your paddle, jump back onto the recording screen and tap on the action button where it says 'Share your trip, real time with emergency contacts or social network' and use the iOS share sheet to choose how you want to share the link to the live map.
