How Do I Track a Time Trial or Race?

Time Trial Mode allows you to record your time and export a GPX for a pre-set distance - ideal for virtual events, recording time trials or races, and paddle training. Tap the GO button, paddle hard and listen out for a beep to notify you that you're halfway, and a second beep to notify you that your chosen distance has been completed. Your GPS tracking will continue for your cool down until you end your session. You'll then see two times in your Logbook - one for your chosen time trial distance and one for your whole session (including the cool down time after that distance was completed).

Turn on Time Trial Mode

Tap on the Time Trial icon in the bottom left-hand corner of the main Paddle screen.

This will bring up a roller for you to choose your virtual race distance.

That's all you need to set up, however we would recommend setting a Countdown to give you chance to warm up and get ready before tracking begins.

Paddling With Time Trial Mode On

Once Time Trial Mode is on, head to the water and get ready as normal. When you are ready to paddle tap GO or start your countdown.

When you hear the beep, start paddling! Racing is underway - you will hear a second one at the halfway mark which is useful if you have to make a turn back to the start! Finally, you will hear a third beep when you cross the virtual finish line - meaning you can relax! You don't need to press anything or interact with your device, we have stopped recording your race time and you can enjoy your cool down.

When you get back to shore you simply end your session as normal.

The session details screen will show your total session distance and timer, as usual. However you will notice a Time Trial Section on the Session Details Screen. Here will be your distance, the time you got and an option to export just the race .GPX file ready to upload to the virtual event of your choosing!

*Time Trial Mode is available with a Paddle Logger Subscription
